IMPROMPTU CONTEST TIME YAY
I decided I need a nice and big official "banner" type thing for the group’s front page, to go where the gorgeous pixel done by pandalecko currently resides.
- The image has to feature Mari (and Mari alone), the group’s official mascot. His ref:
- The image should also preferably feature the text „Club MTT“ on it. Variations like "Welcome to Club MTT" and such are welcome.
- The image should be about 800 px wide, or easily resizeable to that size. The image should be wider than it is tall, or of equal width and height at most.
- I think a backgroundless image would work best, but do whatever ya want, really.
- Submit your entries to the „Banner Contest Entries“ folder in ClubMTT
- You can indeed enter with more than one image.
-One of my Redbubble shirts of your own choice (see shirts here: http://www.redbubble.com/peo

Recent FavouritesI TOMS
I would like to announce my new series of photographs! You may of already noticed, but they feature my new pair of TOMS. TOMS is a shoe brand that donates a pair of shoes to a child in Africa when you buy a pair of their shoes. I've lived in South Africa for three months and I witnessed children in orphanages wearing new pairs of TOMS, so I know for a fact that TOMS does what they say! It brings me joy to finally own my own pair of TOMS and I know there is a child someplace in the world wearing a huge smile on their face because they got a new pair of TOMS shoes.
For more information about TOMS, visit their website: http://www.toms.ca/
I have reached a few milestones:
- Reached 1,000 favourites in my favourites gallery
- Reached 5,000 comments
- Reached 200 watchers
FAQWhat pencils and supplies do you most often use? (Including coloured pencils )
For graphite drawings I use a fairly basic set of tools and I do have preferred brands. I mainly use Tombow Mono 100 pencils, Tombow Mono Zero Erasers, Blu-Tack (instead of a kneaded eraser), Tortillions, colour shaper and Tissue if I'm blending. I mainly use a smooth plate finish paper for graphite drawings, my preferred brand is Mellotex, but I also use Winsor and Newton Extra Smooth Bristol board. My essential kit is here http://pbird12.deviantart.com/gallery/30897635#/d5euwgp it's not exhaustive, but it's what I use most of all.
For coloured pencil drawings I use Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and Blu-Tack and occasionally a touch of white acrylic for highlights if I've lost them in the colouring process. I like a Hot Pressed Watercolour paper for colour pencil drawings. It's smooth enough to keep everything looking ni

The Story Behind the PhotoEvery now and then or at least for now, twice a week, I will be posting up a Journal featuring an exceptional photo and the author's story of how he/she captured that particular moment. Many times, we come across amazing photos on deviantART and wonder what the story was behind that capture... who was involved, where it was taken, how it came to happen, and so forth. I thought it would be interesting to find out of a few of my own favorites, so I contacted a few photographers asking them for a quick summary of their stories. This week's feature is one of iNeedChemicalX's incredible shots. Check it out.
Take me to the Northern Lights
The story begins on a summer's day, one year ago, with me and my he. The photograph happened spontaneously - a friend who was with us was playing with the camera, "pointing" it at us. She took plen
I can't believe everyone doesn't watch......these people.
Upon reflection there are a few everyone watches... there's some with moderate followings... and some seemingly unwatched. whatever the case may be these would be the artists that inspire, challenge, and delight me.
I can't believe everyone doesn't watch them.

June's DD RoundupAnd June comes to a close! Incredible how quickly it flew by, isn't it? Well, it's been less than a month since I was handed the privilege of working as a community volunteer here on dA and I have already been thoroughly enjoying my time as one.
As we close this month, I figured it would be nice to round up the DDs I awarded in June. A big "thank you" to those who suggested some great photos through the notes sent my way. I appreciate it and I hope you keep sending me more incredible pieces. If there are other photos you believe really deserves the award, don't hesitate to note me with a thumbnail of the images along with a brief description of why you think they are worthy.
Thanks and enjoy this month's roundup below:

summer daysQuote of the Day:
Spring flew swiftly by, and summer came; and if the village had been beautiful at first, it was now in the full glow and luxuriance of its richness. The great trees, which had looked shrunken and bare in the earlier months, had now burst into strong life and health; and stretching forth their green arms over the thirsty ground, converted open and naked spots into choice nooks, where was a deep and pleasant shade from which to look upon the wide prospect, steeped in sunshine, which lay stretched out beyond. The earth had donned her mantle of brightest green; and shed her richest perfumes abroad. It was the prime and vigour of the year; all things were glad and flourishing."
~ Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist
